2017 UNTAPPED EMERGING
UNTAPPED invites visual artists to apply to participate in one of two group shows to be held each year at SHOPHOUSE 5, an art space located in the Geylang area of Singapore. The goal of the series is to establish support networks and offer practical experience for local artists at this crucial early stage in their career. UNTAPPED does this by presenting two annual juried group exhibitions and by connecting artists directly with arts patrons.
This particular series of works are a set of reaction that emerges from my experiences, memory and afterthoughts about the spaces of home.
“Childhood corner” talks about my personal experience about a sense of hiding and finding a non existing portal to another space. Reflecting a child’s relationship with the little corners around the house - a space that invites imagination and exploration.
“A place where you & I have always been” talks about the foundation of home, a mother’s position in a domestic space.
“That little corner right across the window” reflects a simple sense of our everyday condition. A brief moment of daydreaming on a Sunday afternoon.
